Gettysburg
The first national flag of the Confederate States of America was called the Stars and Bars. The 11 stars represented the states of the Confederacy. In 1863, the design of the flag was changed to avoid confusion with the US flag, especially on the battlefield. This was the flag of the Gaston Blues from Gaston County, North Carolina. They became Company H, 37th North Carolina Infantry.
